About Us

The Kohl’s German Auto story began over 25 years ago when owner Seb Kohl totaled his first car, a 1983 Volkswagen Rabbit GTI. His father made him part it out to teach him a lesson, unaware it would lead him to a passion for parting and fixing Volkswagens.

Throughout college, Seb swapped engines and sold parts to pay for his college degree, coming home on weekends to work out of a two bay garage on his grandmother’s property. After college and a short-lived desk job at the NADA valuing trucks, he opened Kohl’s German Auto.

Since 2003, we’ve been parting Volkswagen's and Audi's, building swaps and have a solid reputation for troubleshooting cars that leave other shops (and customers) stumped. We purchase cars from salvage auctions and individuals, fix the ones worth repairing for our used car lot and part out the rest and store the parts in our 14,000 sq foot warehouse.

Because we’d rather spend our time helping customers than putting parts online, only a small percentage of our items are listed on the website. If you don’t see what you’re looking for, email us and we’ll find you what you need.
